Christian Toth is a well-known and prolific graffiti artist, recognized globally for his influential work across the world of street art. He has painted in over 40 countries, leaving his mark on both urban landscapes and the broader art community.
In 2021, Christian was featured in the graffiti documentary Rolling Like Thunder, produced by Mass Appeal and released on Showtime. He was also highlighted in the classic documentary Reefer Madness, which won Best Short Documentary at the Festivus Film Festival in Denver, Colorado. His work has been further showcased in a two-page spread in Graffiti World: Street Art from Five Continents, the most comprehensive and bestselling survey of graffiti art ever published.
Christian’s artistic journey began in the vibrant world of global street art and graffiti. Growing up between New York City and Halifax, he was deeply influenced by the dynamic graffiti scene of 1980s and 1990s New York — a foundation that sparked his evolution into a full-time artist. Beyond his own creative practice, Christian is an avid collector of art, including NFTs, and is passionate about supporting other artists.
For a decade, Christian served as Event Coordinator and Director of Hopscotch, the City of Halifax’s annual three-day festival celebrating large-scale visual art and murals. Under his leadership, the festival drew over 10,000 attendees each year across multiple venues in Halifax and Dartmouth. His role included securing funding and sponsorships, developing creative concepts, managing site logistics, navigating permit and safety requirements, negotiating contracts, and working closely with property owners, stakeholders, and a diverse roster of artists to bring ambitious public art projects to life.
During the 1990s and 2000s, Christian also focused heavily on graffiti filmmaking, with an emphasis on large-scale visual art. As co-founder and Producer at a six-person video production company, he created several independent documentaries. His films garnered critical acclaim, earning Best Short Documentary honors at Denver’s Festivus Film Festival, along with honorable mentions and “Best Of” awards at festivals in Brooklyn, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Anchorage, Alaska.
Christian Toth’s fine art collections and features span a wide range of platforms, including books, magazines, newspapers, galleries, websites, businesses, video games, clothing lines, music festivals, live art events, corporate collections, international auctions, and museums. His extensive periods of living and creative production in Toronto, Canada; Copenhagen, Denmark; Mexico; and Brazil have further enriched the global perspective and depth of his work.
Beyond the world of visual art, Christian is a lifelong surfer who surfs year-round in the North Atlantic Ocean, chasing winter storms and hurricanes with the same passion he brings to his art.
