Christian Toth is a well-known and prolific graffiti artist, recognized globally for his influential work in street art. Having painted in over 40 countries, he has left a lasting mark on urban landscapes and the broader art community worldwide.
In 2021, Christian was featured in Rolling Like Thunder, a graffiti documentary produced by Mass Appeal and released on Showtime. He was also highlighted in Reefer Madness, a short documentary that earned Best Short Documentary at the Festivus Film Festival in Denver, Colorado. His work has been further showcased in a two-page spread in Graffiti World: Street Art from Five Continents — the most comprehensive and bestselling survey of graffiti art ever published.
Christian’s artistic journey was forged in the vibrant world of global street art. Growing up between New York City and Halifax, he was deeply shaped by the energy of the 1980s and 1990s New York graffiti scene — a foundation that propelled his evolution into a full-time artist. Beyond his own practice, he is an avid collector of art, including NFTs, and is passionate about championing the work of fellow artists.
For a decade, Christian served as Event Coordinator and Director of Hopscotch, the City of Halifax’s annual three-day festival celebrating large-scale visual art and murals. Under his leadership, the festival drew over 10,000 attendees each year across multiple venues in Halifax and Dartmouth. His responsibilities spanned securing funding and sponsorships, developing creative concepts, managing site logistics, navigating permits and safety requirements, negotiating contracts, and collaborating closely with property owners, stakeholders, and a diverse roster of artists to bring ambitious public art projects to life.
During the 1990s and 2000s, Christian also devoted significant energy to graffiti filmmaking. As co-founder and Producer at a six-person video production company, he created several independent documentaries that garnered critical acclaim — earning Best Short Documentary at Denver’s Festivus Film Festival, along with honorable mentions and “Best Of” recognition at festivals in Brooklyn, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Anchorage, Alaska.
Christian’s fine art collections and features span an exceptionally broad range of platforms, including books, magazines, newspapers, galleries, websites, businesses, video games, clothing lines, music festivals, live art events, corporate collections, international auctions, and museums. Extended periods of living and working in Toronto, Canada; Copenhagen, Denmark; Mexico; and Brazil have further deepened the global perspective that defines his practice.
Beyond the canvas and the wall, Christian is a lifelong surfer who takes to the North Atlantic year-round — chasing winter storms and hurricanes with the same relentless passion he brings to his art.
